Good video Travis I liked the parts emphasizing time savings. Also the reminder about the Hawthorne effect [from a previous video] and the importance of reporting. Reporting is such a powerful yet underutilized means of representing the data we put so much effort into collecting. Thanks for the video Travis keep on doing a good job.
Thanks Steve. I think people often don’t realize there are other ways to get data from their databases. Hoping this video is helpful to many.
Travis,
Nice work as always. In video 3 example using Opportunities Refer By field one record at a time is nice. But a mass mailer Campaign say to 3,000 contacts how can we do it. Otherwise I would insert mailer name into the Contact records Referred By field doing a copy into that field for all contacts in list view.
Thanks,
James
Travis,
Sorry after I reviewed Video 3 you did state She was going to track inbound calls based on the mailer that was sent out. Logical, since you would not want to create 1000′s of Opportunities that have 0 qualification. So my original question can be ignored because it does not make sense to do it with Oppt. But to put a mailer code in a contact field to know whom you sent the mailer to and measure cost of sending out to 1000′s is wise and even create a second mailer code that can be changed to reflect whom called in and ect…

James-
You could do that, or simply make them a member of a group, I prefer dynamic assignment, so that would key off a field…. which could be called Marketing Campaign.
Thanks as always for your feedback, glad you are finding value in the videos.
Video 3 reminded me of so much power in using opportunities to the full, fantastic, many thanks
The information has been very helpfull for me as I am applying for a job that uses the product and they require some knowledge of it in order to apply for the job. I have learned how useful this can be for a company in tracking information about their sales opportunities.
Travis, I learn something fromecah of your videos..Reporting is essential and keeping track is also critical..
Thanks
SAM
Glad you are finding the videos useful Sam.
Video 3 is informative & easy to follow as per normal
Travis,
The videos are quick helpful pointers on Act!. I have only used Act! as a glorified roldex and am looking to get much more from it. I have recently changed companies and really pushing to utimilize Act! the way I should have been. I am considering upgrading from Act! 6.0 to 2010. Unfortunately I'm in the Mortgage business and am trying to keep cash out lays down given the market. Thanks for the videos they are very helpful and even inspirational.
Eric-
Thanks for chiming in. Glad you have found it useful. If you are comfortable running an unsupported version of the software (v6 was removed from Sage support some years ago), do so, and make the most of the software. When you have the financial wherewithal, upgrade to the latest version, and consider hiring a certified consultant to migrate the data from the v6 format to the latest (SQL) version.
Hope that helps. Hang in there, hopefully we are pulling out of this global recession.
Leaves me wanting more!
Normal?! I haven’t been called that in quite some time!
Oh, wait, you mean the video.
